But first this morning we went to the Texas State Aquarium. Although a tiny little place (compared to Moody Gardens in Galveston) it was very nice, relaxing, not crowded, educational, and fun! Good times; good times.
We learned how to train dolphins at the Dolphin training show first.
Next we saw Grace their rescued Bald Eagle, and watched the "Wild Flight Show" where we saw all sorts of animals from all over the world. And not all had wings.
After, we looked at all the aquariums with jellyfish, and regular fish galor. We saw Beth do the "Diver in the Water." Basically we saw her during feeding time while another person gave an educational program. It was quite interesting. The stingrays HUGGED her and she bottle fed them! Maybe Steve Erwin should have taken a lesson from her.
Beth was super nice. While we were taking a lunch break at Inflated Subway, she recognized MLG from outside the tank and came up to talk to her. We then ran in to Beth again at the "Reptile Report" where she and a few others fed 7 Sea Turtles of two different species. One was the Green Sea Turtle. Why is it called the "green" sea turtle you should ask. Because they eat so much vegetation their fat is green. But yes, its shell is also somewhat green as well. Here below is Hemingway (named after Hemingway's Farewell to Arms). She is missing her right front flipper. All of the ones there were rescues due to other accidents, such as being hit by boat propellers. One of those was Crush. She had a big crack in the top of her shell which caused her to get an air pocket in her shell. The pocket just so happens to be in the rear so she swims around with her booty in the air. Her nickname is also Bubble Butt. And there was Pickles. Don't recall anything specific about her, but I liked the name. Maybe because she is green and bumpy? In case you have not noticed, the Sea Turtles were my favorite exhibit :)
Oh, I almost forgot! MLG touched a stingray. They are squishy little suckers!
Okay, time to wake up and hit the beach! But below is a little clip of one of the neat little and electrical jellyfish.
